How to ask discovering questions?

"I keep six honest serving-men
(They taught me all I knew);
Their names are What and Why and When
And How and Where and Who.

~ Rudyard Kipling

Ask open-ended questions e.g. Please share more about your past experiences.

Ask questions that draw out feelings and engage others.

Ask questions that encourage others to think about their future, dreams and visions.

Examples of 5W1H questions:

Why is that important to you?

Why are your finances important to you?

How do you feel?

What do you think?

What are your plans to cover these gaps / to bring you to your goals?

Where do you see yourself in x years?

Who are the main influencers / decision-makers?

Who makes the decision?

When is a good time (to start)?

What do you hope to achieve?

How do you see your family benefiting from this?
